Early 19th century, of the Bloor period (1811-1848).

The Derby Porcelain Company, founded around 1750, was one of the most important and longest-running English porcelain factories. The "Bloor Derby" period takes its name from Robert Bloor, who acquired the works in 1811 and ran it (latterly under the management of others as his health declined) until 1848 when the factory closed. Bloor-period Derby is generally less prestigious than the earlier Crown Derby period but produced large quantities of attractive hand-painted tea and dessert ware in the established Derby idiom.

This milk jug measures approximately 14cm in length, of typical Regency form. It has the overall crazing to the glaze that is normal for Derby porcelain of this period - an honest and expected feature of the ware. Otherwise the jug is in good condition with the hand-painting and gilding well-preserved.

A useful piece for the collector of early Derby or for use as part of a mixed Regency tea setting.
