The plate is engraved \u003cstrong\u003eAnno Domini 1610, Jodocus Hondius\u003c\/strong\u003e, and carries the imprint stating it was described by Christopher Saxton, augmented and published by John Speed, and sold in Pope's Head Alley by \u003cstrong\u003eJohn Sudbury and George Humble\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOne of Speed's most decorative maps, it includes an \u003cstrong\u003einset plan of the city of Worcester\u003c\/strong\u003e, a vignette of the \u003cstrong\u003eBattle of Evesham\u003c\/strong\u003e with an account of the battle in which Simon de Montfort was killed, the coats of arms of the Earls of Worcester, and a large dated compass-rose cartouche, all in bright hand colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis example has \u003cstrong\u003eEnglish text on the reverse\u003c\/strong\u003e describing the county, with the list of Worcestershire's hundreds, and is framed with glass to both sides so the text can be seen.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCondition: centre fold as issued and general toning consistent with age.
