1920s Japanese reverse painting on glass with mother of pearl. Wall hanging with string.

A genuinely lovely 1920s Japanese reverse-painted glass picture incorporating mother of pearl inlay — a classic form of Taishō-era Japanese export art that's become highly collectable in recent years.

The technique sees the image painted onto the back of the glass and viewed from the front, producing a richly luminous finish.
