Antique Armorial Plate Heraldic Crests Dragons in Compartments Gilt 24cm

A decorative armorial plate painted with heraldic shields, dragon devices and floral baskets within radiating compartments, heightened in gilt on a white ground.

It measures approximately 24 cm in diameter. The 'dragons in compartments' style derives from early English armorial porcelain and makes a striking display piece.

Of particular interest, the reverse carries an early staple (rivet) repair applied across a firing crack to prevent it spreading — an old and careful stabilisation. The plate is not broken; this is a historic preventative repair that speaks to the age and the care of an early owner.
