An antique hand-coloured engraving titled "Cashiobury, Hertfordshire", showing the Gothic Revival rebuild of the house following James Wyatt's c.1800 remodelling and subsequent works.
Engraved by W. Watkins after a drawing by F.W. Trotter, published in J.P. Neale's "Views of the Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland", c.1818-1829 — one of the standard topographical works of the early 19th century.
Presented in a triple-wash mount with gilt moulded frame.
CONDITION: Please note the glass is cracked — clearly visible in the photographs. Inexpensive to replace at any framer (typically £15-25). The print itself is in good condition behind the cracked glass. The frame is sound.
Historical significance: This view shows the house in its Gothic Revival incarnation, between the c.1800 Wyatt remodelling and the c.1922 demolition. Cashiobury was one of the great Hertfordshire country seats and pre-demolition views are increasingly collectable.
Dimensions: Framed approximately 28 x 30 cm.
From a private UK collection. Carefully packed and dispatched via insured tracked service. Sold with cracked glass — replacement at buyer's option.
