An antique copperplate engraving titled "Cashiobury Park in Hertfordshire, the Seat of the Earl of Essex", late 18th century.
This is a different view of the same estate, showing the house and outbuildings with figures in the foreground — likely from a contemporary county history or topographical magazine such as The Universal Magazine or Harrison's History of London family of publications. Uncoloured.
Presented in a plain banded mount within a simple gilt frame.
Historical significance: Cashiobury House near Watford was the principal seat of the Earls of Essex from the mid-16th century. The estate was substantially remodelled by James Wyatt c.1800 and finally demolished in 1922. Pre-demolition views of the house are increasingly collectable to Hertfordshire and Watford local historians.
The plate is in good clean condition. Frame and glazing intact.
Dimensions: Framed approximately 31 x 37 cm.
