A Coalport porcelain square dessert dish, c.1810–1825, painted in the Imari palette with cobalt blue panels reserved with gilt flowers, peonies and chrysanthemums in iron red, pink and green, and a gilt-edged rim. Approximate size: 21cm.
Unmarked, as is usual for Coalport of this date; the attribution is by the paste, shape and palette. Coalport produced a large family of Imari patterns for the Regency market and this rich cobalt-and-gilt example is typical of the factory's best work in the style.
Condition: Please see images for condition — the photographs form part of the description and show every angle, the base and any faults. Gilt wear to the rim; no chips or cracks noted.
From a large private collection of early 19th-century English ceramics, acquired over many years and now being dispersed.
