Antique Regency Supper Set Dragons in Compartments Covered Centre Quadrants AF

A remarkable Regency supper set in the "Dragons in Compartments" pattern, c.1800–1820, comprising a circular covered central dish with gilt handle and four fan-shaped quadrant dishes that fit around it, each painted with compartments of chinoiserie figures, pagodas, dragons and flowers in pink, green, orange, blue and gilt. Assembled diameter approximately 43cm.

"Dragons in Compartments" (also called "Bengal Tiger") was made most famously by Chamberlain's Worcester and taken up by other English factories. This set is unmarked and I have not attributed it to a specific factory. Supper sets of this date rarely survive complete; this one lacks only its tray.
