An attractive early 19th century relief-moulded stoneware jug, the buff / drab ground applied with crisp white sprigged relief of putti and floral scrolls, of baluster form with a loop handle, in the Wedgwood style.
The jug stands approximately 20 cm high. It is unmarked, and on the basis of the body and form dates to circa 1820–1840.
Relief-moulded sprigged stoneware of this kind was made by Wedgwood, Turner and others in the early 19th century and is sought after by collectors of early English pottery.
