A framed and glazed map of Yorkshire by Thomas Moule (1784-1851), the steel engraving surrounded by his celebrated decorative border of Gothic architecture, heraldic shields and a vignette of York Minster, with a 'Reference' key to the Ridings. Uncoloured.
Moule's decorative county maps were first published in parts in 1830-32, collected in The English Counties Delineated by George Virtue in 1836, and later re-issued (with railways added) in Barclay's Complete and Universal English Dictionary from 1841; the railways in the reference here point to one of the later impressions.
Presented in a glazed frame measuring approximately 42 x 35 cm overall. The top of the frame is slightly misaligned but the piece is otherwise ready to hang and displays well.
Offered in good antique condition; please study the photographs closely as they form part of this description, noting any foxing. Sold framed and glazed (collection or careful courier recommended). Please ask any questions before purchase.
