An attractive antique three-piece folding dressing table mirror in a gilt frame, of the classic format with central panel and two hinged side wings. The traditional vanity mirror of the late Victorian, Edwardian and inter-war years.

Folding triple dressing mirrors - sometimes called "tripartite" or "psyche" mirrors - were a fixture of bedrooms and dressing rooms throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, allowing the user to see themselves from multiple angles when seated at a dressing table. The format originated in late 18th century France and continued in production well into the 20th century, with the gilt-framed examples now particularly sought after for use in period and Hollywood Regency interiors.

This example measures 49 x 70cm overall when open. The gilt frame is in good order with the expected mellowing of age; the original mirror plates carry the gentle foxing that gives an antique mirror its characteristic warmth and depth.
