This charming miniature Wedgwood caneware vase is a fine example of the firm’s Neoclassical “splitware” production, combining a mellow straw‑yellow ground with applied mid‑blue jasper style reliefs. Standing approximately 9 cm high, it is delicately potted on a waisted stem and circular foot, rising to a gently flared, everted rim. The body is crisply moulded and displays the refined modelling and sharp detail associated with late 19th‑ to early 20th‑century Wedgwood stonewares.

A continuous frieze of classical figures in blue relief encircles the upper body. The scenes show draped mythological characters in various poses, including attendants by an altar, dancing or conversing in a landscaped setting with trees, shrubs and animals. These motifs draw directly on antique sources and echo the designs used on Wedgwood’s iconic jasperware, but here they are contrasted strikingly against the warm caneware ground. The lower, bulbous section is decorated with a regular band of upright acanthus leaves, each leaf sharply defined and well spaced, providing an elegant visual rhythm and emphasising the rounded form.

The interior is plain caneware, left unglazed as typical for this body, and the rim shows the characteristic slightly granular texture of cane stoneware. The underside features a central pierced opening and is impressed simply WEDGWOOD, confirming authentic factory manufacture. No additional date letters are visible in the photographs, but the style, colour palette and quality of the reliefs are consistent with late Victorian or Edwardian production, when such small ornamental vases were popular as cabinet pieces and as part of garnitures.

Condition appears very good from the images supplied. The user notes that there are no chips, and there are no obvious cracks or structural issues visible. The caneware surface shows light, even toning and a few minor specks and firing irregularities, all typical of period stoneware and adding to its antique character. The applied blue reliefs remain sharply defined with only minimal rubbing to some of the high points, suggesting that the vase has been carefully handled and displayed rather than used.

At only 9 cm in height, this is a true miniature, ideal for collectors with limited display space or for inclusion in a grouped Wedgwood cabinet. The attractive blue‑on‑yellow colourway is less commonly encountered than the standard blue on pale jasper and provides a pleasing contrast when displayed alongside other jasperware or caneware pieces. Its classical ornament, fine modelling and compact size make it suitable both as a standalone decorative accent and as part of a more extensive Wedgwood or Neoclassical revival collection.

For collectors, the presence of the clear impressed mark, the intact applied decoration and the absence of chips are all important positives. The piece would appeal especially to those specialising in Wedgwood stonewares, miniature vases, or 19th‑century English Neoclassical design. It also offers an accessible way for new enthusiasts to acquire an authentic antique Wedgwood object with strong display value and historic charm.
