A Wedgwood pearlware dish with a rare yellow ground, hand-painted with purple passion flowers and green foliage within a purple-lined rim, c.1805–1820. Approximate size: diameter 21cm.
Impressed WEDGWOOD to the base. Coloured-ground botanical pearlware of this type was a specialised and short-lived production at Etruria in the Josiah Wedgwood II period and is scarce today; yellow ground is the rarest of the colours.
Condition: Please see images for condition — the photographs form part of the description and show every angle, the base and any faults. Light wear to the painted rim; no chips or cracks noted.
From a large private collection of early 19th-century English ceramics, acquired over many years and now being dispersed.
