A Chinese carved giltwood panel, finely pierced and carved in openwork with birds among flowering branches (blossom/prunus), retaining traces of original gilding, set within a later painted frame. Panels of this kind were originally architectural or furniture elements - frequently from canopy beds, cabinets or screens.
The carving dates to the 19th or early 20th century (late Qing / Republic period). Gilt loss and surface wear are expected and add to the antique character.
The panel measures approximately 23 x 48 cm and makes a striking decorative wall piece.
Offered in good antique condition consistent with age, with expected wear and gilt loss; please study all photographs closely as they form part of this description, checking the structure, and ask any questions before buying. Carefully packed; UK and international postage available.
