This attractive antique dish is an early 19th‑century Wedgwood porcelain piece from the late Georgian period, dating to around the 1820s. It is a finely potted round dessert or side plate, measuring approximately 21 cm in diameter, and decorated in a rich Regency palette of cobalt blue, soft blush‑tan and burnished gold. Collectors of early Wedgwood porcelain will recognise the characteristic neoclassical styling and the quality of the gilding typical of the factory’s work in this era.

The rim is bordered by a striking repeating motif of stylised palmettes or shell‑shaped reserves, each picked out in pale peach‑tan enamel and framed with intricate hand‑applied gilding. Between these panels sit small triangular segments enriched with fine linear and diaper gilding, all set against a deep cobalt or mazarine blue ground which creates a bold contrast and emphasises the lustre of the gold. The inner border is formed by alternating white leaf forms and slender gilt bands that draw the eye towards the plain central well. At the centre of the plate is a delicate gilt floral spray or radiating anthemion motif, now softly rubbed from age and use but still clearly visible.

The reverse of the dish is plain glazed, typical of period table wares. There is an old stained firing crack or hairline visible from both front and back, along with expected age‑related wear, surface scratches and some rubbing and minor losses to the gilding and enamels around the rim. These condition points are consistent with a genuine early 19th‑century example that has seen careful use over two centuries. Please examine the photographs closely for a full visual guide to the condition; they form an important part of the description.

The user notes mention a red Wedgwood printed mark, which would be in line with early factory backstamps of this period. Such marks, when present, help confirm authenticity and approximate dating, placing the dish firmly in the Regency / late Georgian era. Pieces from this series are regarded as scarce survivors, particularly with this elaborate gilt and cobalt border pattern, making them appealing to dedicated Wedgwood and English porcelain collectors.

With its refined classical design, generous use of gold and practical 21 cm diameter, this dish works equally well as a stand‑alone display piece, part of a cabinet arrangement of Georgian porcelain, or integrated into an antique mixed service for special occasions. Its decorative border frames food or small objects beautifully, and the shallow well makes it suitable for desserts, pastries or light courses. Multiple dishes from the same service may be available; consult the seller’s page for any matching plates if you wish to assemble a larger set.

Overall, this is a genuine antique Wedgwood Georgian gilt porcelain dish from around the 1820s, combining historical interest, highly decorative Regency styling and practical display potential for the serious collector or stylish interior.
