A delightful three-piece Herend porcelain coffee set in the Kimberly pattern: comprising the coffee pot with cover, the cup, and the saucer. Hand-painted at Herend, Hungary.
The Herend Porcelain Manufactory (Herendi Porcelánmanufaktúra), founded in 1826 in the village of Herend in western Hungary, is one of Europe's most distinguished surviving hand-painted porcelain producers. The factory rose to international prominence at the Great Exhibition of 1851 when Queen Victoria personally ordered a dinner service in what would become the celebrated "Queen Victoria" pattern. To this day, every piece of Herend porcelain is hand-painted, and the factory's pattern book extends to many hundreds of named designs.
The Kimberly pattern features hand-painted scattered flower sprays on a white ground with gilt rims, in the long-established Herend manner. Each piece is signed underfoot with the Herend printed mark and the painter's initials. The coffee pot stands 15cm in height; the cup and saucer are 12cm in diameter at the saucer.
Overall condition is excellent. One honestly disclosed flaw: a tiny paint loss to the knop of the coffee pot lid, otherwise unaffected. Please review the photographs carefully for full detail.
A lovely set for the table or for the collector of fine European porcelain. UK tracked delivery; collection from Nottingham welcome.
