A large Georgian relief-moulded stoneware jug by Turner, applied with a sprigged hunting frieze beneath a brown slip neck, fitted with a hinged silver lid. The body is impressed TURNER to the base, for John Turner & Sons of Lane End, Longton, c.1800.

John Turner & Sons of Lane End, Longton, were among the finest makers of late-18th and early-19th century fine stoneware, rivals to Wedgwood; John Turner held the appointment 'Potter to the Prince of Wales'. The hinged metal lid is silver; please see the photographs for any hallmarks, which where present date and authenticate the mount.

Condition: Crazing and minor firing imperfections consistent with age and normal for this type of early stoneware; please study all photographs, which form part of the description.

Dimensions: approximately 25cm high.
