A handsome Victorian Minton figural centrepiece in the celebrated 'Flower Bearers' model - a large scallop-shell bowl flanked by two reclining mermaids with flowing hair, raised on a scrolled, shell-and-foliate base. The famous shape No. 1182, the design attributed to Albert Carrier-Belleuse, here as a white glazed porcelain example.

A striking, sculptural piece with real presence. The same model is also known in coloured Minton majolica; this white version is offered here as a decorative centrepiece.

Marks: impressed MINTON (single word, without the 'S' adopted in 1873) and the shape number 1182 to the base, indicating a date of circa 1865-1872. There is a drainage hole to the centre of the bowl, as made (the model functioned as a flower bowl / jardiniere).

Size: approx. 41 cm wide x 24 cm high x 18 cm deep.

Condition: white glazed porcelain, covered throughout in hairlines and crazing - clearly shown in the photographs. Offered as a decorative piece and priced to clear accordingly; sold as found. Displays well from normal viewing distance. Please study all photographs and ask any questions before buying.

Professionally packed (this is a large, heavy item) and dispatched promptly. UK postage; international by request - please contact for a quote. Collection welcome.
