Pair Brass Wall Lights c.1900 Satin Pink Art Nouveau Frosted Glass Shades

An attractive pair of brass wall lights fitted with antique satin pink frosted glass shades of Art Nouveau design, circa 1900. The shades are the period element of these fittings and are particularly desirable; the brass arms have been wired and prepared for installation and are ready to use.

The shades are made of acid-frosted satin glass in a warm pink/salmon hue with the characteristic flowing organic Art Nouveau profile of the c.1900 period - the high point of the international Art Nouveau movement. Such shades were originally produced by Continental glasshouses including those of Bohemia, France and Belgium and exported widely. Pink satin glass shades in this style are now scarce and command a strong premium among collectors and decorators.

The complete fittings measure: brass 27cm in height with a 25cm projection from the wall; glass shades 13cm in height. Both lights are in good ready-to-use condition. As with any second-hand lighting, installation should be undertaken by a qualified electrician and final connection checked before use.

A genuinely lovely pair, ideal for a period property, hallway, dressing room, bedroom or a more theatrical interior. Period satin pink glass throws a particularly flattering warm light when illuminated.
