Regency Green Ground Exotic Bird Hand Painted Cabinet Plate c1820 Coalport Type

A fine Regency English bone china cabinet plate, the lobed and gilt-edged border in a striking apple-green ground reserved with hand-painted panels of exotic birds and naturalistic flower sprays, the centre painted with a rose spray within a gilt and brown geometric band. The hand painting is of good quality, typical of the best English porcelain of circa 1815-1830. The base carries a hand-painted pattern number only, with no printed factory mark - normal for this period. On the strength of the green ground, exotic-bird painting and gilding, the plate is most likely Coalport or Ridgway; Derby (Bloor), Spode and Flight, Barr & Barr Worcester are also possibilities. Measuring approximately 22 cm in diameter, this is a handsome Regency cabinet or dessert plate for collectors of early English porcelain.
