Royal Worcester Aesthetic Turquoise Gilt Armorial Cabinet Plate Stag Crest c1880

A Royal Worcester Aesthetic Movement cabinet plate, the broad border in a rich turquoise ground gilt in the Anglo-Japanese taste with geometric and bamboo ornament, framing a plain white centre. A handsome example of the refined aesthetic cabinet wares of circa 1875-1890. The reverse is printed with an armorial crest - a demi-stag transfixed through the neck by an arrow - indicating a commissioned or retailer-supplied armorial piece. The crest corresponds to several recorded English families (candidates include Higgs of Gloucestershire, Busby and Perry). The plate measures approximately 26 cm in diameter. Please note there are hairline cracks to the edge, which are reflected in the modest asking price; the plate nonetheless displays well as a decorative cabinet piece, and the armorial crest will interest those researching their family arms.
